Keith Monk Mercury Tonearm

The Keith Monk has one very unusual feature, it uses mercury as part of its construction. It is a unipivot design with the four inner wires ending in four points which when installed sits in four separate troughs containing mercury. The mercury besides providing damping for the arm also acts as liquid conductor for the signals. According to the manual "lead-out wires with their associated torque and friction are completely abolished by the use of small arcuate mercury baths". Otherwise built quality is average, bordering almost on crude. Arm tube looks  like a low-mass affair. Anti-skating is by the use of magnetic force. The picture show the vial of mercury provided and the accompanying pipette. I do not know the original price of this arm but based on its construction and unusual engineering.
